Can you spot the house?

Nestled in the trees is a lonely house. It would be great to have the privacy and yet be so close to everything you need.

Quick Storm

We haven't had much rain lately. We did however have a really quick storm that whipped these palm trees into a frenzy.

This is the last fence art picture until I take some more.

More fence art

Keeping with the painting on the wall theme, this is the second last fence art photo that I have and I will show the last tomorrow.

Then I will have to go and take some more.

The other end

This is on the other end of the wall.

It shows a well known animal of Australia, the Kangaroo.

The Eagle

This is an Eagle painted on the wall of my old school. There is also a brown and white line that is an aboriginal type of painting.

Park Improvements

This bridge doesn't really serve any purpose (the drain ends very close to here and you can walk around) other than to make the park look better.

I like it.

Learning about gardens

I wasn't able to find out information about this place, but it looks like a place to learn about different gardening methods.

This is at Griffith University and there was a large area with different ways to better your garden and must be a project for the students.

More Fence Art

It would have been nice if the trees planted behind the fence lined up with the trees on the fence.

I just read an advertisement by Logan City Council, that if your wall is a graffitti target and the wall is on public view, they will paint a mural on it like the wall shown here.

Wide open spaces

Off in the distance is a new housing estate at Meadowbrook.

More art

This is some more art work on the buildings of Griffith University.

This was the best angle I could get because there was a large tree in the way.

A view accross the lagoon

Beautiful water, sparkles and a bridge to stroll across and view it all.

To the stars

The school motto for Loganlea State High School (where I went) is "AD ASTRA" or "To the stars".

This was painted on the wall of one of the buildings to brighten them up.

Island on the lake

This is a small lake near Griffith University. In the middle is an island like in one of my previous posts. I wonder if any of the local kids have built a cubby house in there?

Angry looking magpie

This magpie appears in my backyard sometimes. I know when I see this one because half of his top beak is missing.

It is said that a magpie attacks people because it has been attacked first. If we all leave them alone, maybe one day they won't attack us.

Logan River Tinnie Trail

This is an information board telling you about Riverdale park as part of the Tinnie Trail. There is map near this one that points out some of the historical locations along the Logan River.

I didn't know till I read this that when the salt water from the ocean flows into the Logan River, it allows sharks to swim up it, and a person was taken by one in 1884.

In answer to a previous question - The bird in the Thursday, May 11 post is a juvenile blue faced honeyeater (Entomyzon cyanotis). The yellow around the eyes changes to light blue when it becomes an adult. Voice - Loud "ki-owt".

Houses up high

These are some houses up in the hills. The land up here is usually more expensive and the houses are very beautiful and match the high cost land.

Extra expense is added due to the sloping land which costs more to build on.

Heading into winter

With Autumn in full swing, these branches with these colorful berries will get too heavy and fall off as we head into winter.

Wall Art

Many places in Logan have been painted. This is a painting on some rest rooms at a park.

A pier to fish or visit

At this park they have a pontoon (or pier) that you can sit on and fish from. You go through this gate and there is a large area to catch some fish.

You can even get in your tinnie (small metal boat) from home if you live on the river and come up to this pontoon. You can then tie it up and visit the park.

Exercise anyone?

This exercise equipment is placed around some parks. They have a picture showing you what to do. This one, you hold onto the bar in the middle and jump over it, then jump back over the other side.

Lonely island

Although these trees are alone in the middle of a lagoon in Waterford, they won't ever run out of water.

More big things

Another of the big things in Logan.

This is the Big Gun which has been here for as long as I can remember. It has moved from the rooftop of the fruit market and up onto this new structure as the original shops have grown over time.

It is now a growers market with all your basic food needs.

As for the Big Gun, this relic of World War II is one of the best-known landmarks in Logan City. It is a 155mm field gun and had a range of almost 30km. In 1972, Bruno Laspina started “The Big Gun Fruit Mart” near the wrecker’s yard. The 7-ton gun was hoisted onto the roof of the fruit mart and has remained in this locality ever since.

Advertising

On the right hand side of this picture is a long tube with hands and a face.

Air is pumped into the tube and it makes the top part fly around to call attention to the sale they are having.

Cars for sale

In various areas, we have these long strips of new & used car sale yards where you could do all your car shopping very close together.

In a suburb in Brisbane City, they have what they call the Marooka Magic Mile, which is approx. 1 mile of car yards (I presume).
